The School of Life Sciences, Sikkim University organized a one- day series of special lectures by eminent scientists of National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) Allahabad and Biotech Park Lucknow on “Omics to Bio-Economy through Skill Development Innovation” on 4th September 2019 at the Conference Hall, Barad Sadan, 5th Mile, Tadong.
On this day a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)was signed between Sikkim University and Biotech Prak Lucknow. Padma Shree Prof. Pramod Tandon, COE, Biotech Park Lucknow was present on the occasion and also presented a lecture on “Bio-Economy and Entrepreneurship in Nation Building”. Dr. V.P. Kamboj, former Director of CSIR- CDRI and Chairman, Biotech Consortium India Ltd. presented a lecture on “Skill Development: Make in India Products for Health Security”. Dr. P.K. Seth, former Director of CSIR- IITR and NASI Platinum Jubilee Fellow presented a lecture on “Skill Development Innovation Transforming India”. Padma Shree Prof. Veena Tandon, NASI Platinum Jubilee Fellow also delivered a lecture on “Omics’ Technologies: Integration in Biology Today”.
The programme was attended by the University officials, faculty members, students and staff of the University. Vice- Chancellor Prof. Avinash Khare mentioned that the lecture series by such eminent scientists was an exemplary initiative to give impetus to research innovations in the University and the signing of the MoU with Biotech Park Lucknow would pave the way for more innovative research in the field of life sciences.
