A Gangtok-based premier division club, Sikkim Aakraman Football Club (SAFC) is organising a Summer Football Camp 2019 for boys and girls of age groups of 07 to 18 years from 13 to 20 July here at Tashi Namgyal Academy football ground. The week-long camp will be conducted for juniors, 9 to 12 years, 13 to 15 years and 16 to 18 years age groups by All India Football Federation D-License coaches. The camp will have audio video coaching sessions and interactive sessions with prominent international and national footballers of Sikkim with participants.
Addressing a press conference here today, Sikkim Aakraman FC president, Jigmee Singey Rinzing Wangchuk mentioned that the club was organising the football coaching camp for the first time in a very special manner. He stated that the camp was not only focusing on the basic and fundamental of football but has also been focused to train young budding footballers to handle pressure and criticism during game. He stated that the camp has mainly focused on the grassroot football and to scout young talents of the State.
“As being a professional football club of Sikkim we are now preparing to play the I-League and we need U-15 and U-17 teams for the same. So, this camp is also a talent hunt to spot skillful young players for our club,” Mr Wangchuk said. He added that a team of spotters comprises of experienced former footballers will shortlist skillful and talent footballers. He mentioned that Sikkim Aakraman FC has plans to take these skillful footballers to further train and groom them for its U-15 and U-17 teams.
“This camp is also special as we have framed the coaching camp after an extensive research which mainly focused towards development of Basics and Foundation in modern football. The knowledge in basic and fundamental of football will help young budding footballers to go ahead in the football,” he said. He mentioned that the camp will has audio and visual coaching sessions for deeper understanding on technical know how and interactive session with professional footballers of Sikkim for sharing of knowledge and experiences and motivation.

Sikkim Aakraman FC vice-president Karma Phintso Wangdi mentioned that there were many raw talents in the State and they just need the proper training, guidance and exposure to do well in the football. He added that basic and fundamental knowledge in football would help them to groom footballers from the grassroot level. He shared that the club has also been planning to organise such camps in other districts in near future.
He mentioned that Sikkim Aakraman FC was started by like minded ex students of TNA in 2010 and has already won many tournaments in and outside the State so far. He shared that now the next target of the club was to play the I-League. He mentioned that the club has also been preparing to play the upcoming Sikkim Premier Division League 2019 and has already sign contracts with many players.
A Sikkim Aakraman FC member, Tanam Subba informed that the club was also involved in different social works and has recently cleaned the complex of new STNM Hospital earlier this month. He stated that the club would continue with its social initiative in the future.
