The Sikkim unit of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) organized a coordination meeting at community hall of Geyzing on Friday. The meeting chaired by the state’s BJP president D.B Chauhan also had a presence of Maneybung – Dentam constituency’s BJP MLA N.K Subba, west district’s president of the party Digam Subba and other party functionaries.
It was informed that the meeting was convened to discuss activities, plans and programmes and future courses of actions of BJP party in West Sikkim.
Digam Subba in his keynote address expressed that BJP would work in all levels to win the faith and loyalty of the people in West Sikkim. He maintained that the party functionaries without any fear, shame and political pressures should work in all the front to strengthen the party. He pressed for proper coordination and unity amongst the party workers.
MLA N.K Subba said that BJP MLAs were elected representatives of the people and they have responsibilities to fulfill as public servants. Terming the politics as a bridge through which the people travel to and fro, Subba said that the people have the choice of affiliations to any political parties. He maintained that BJP is an only alternative to the former ruling front SDF and present Sikkim Krantikari Morcha and claimed further that BJP would work for the brighter future of Sikkim. “BJP has 12 MLAs in the state, the national party in Sikkim was necessitated for the all-round development of Sikkim and that was the reason why we joined BJP with an objective to serve Sikkim through a national political platform”, Subba said.
N.K Subba further added that 7 months old SKM government has lot of promises to be fulfilled and BJP MLAs would not remain silent on the issues related to the Sikkimese people and their interests. claiming that BJP party is growing up in Sikkim rapidly and it has emerged as an alternative to both SDF and SKM, N.K Subba expressed that there was no harm when the people join BJP but that was the wisest of decisions made by them. He also exerted for comprehensive public based activities from grassroot levels to propagate BJP’s idealisms, mission and visions.
D.B Chauhan maintained that a political party becomes futile when it has few numbers of committed supporters in the party and betrayers in thousands. He added that no question mark should be put up over someone’s leadership in the party and there should be necessary coordination and understandings amongst the party leaderships. He informed that BJP would stride forward with the theme ‘Sabka Saath, Sabkaa Bikash’ and the party would work in all levels. “Whether BJP is in alliance with SKM or not we will stick to our party’s agendas, idealisms and visions for Sikkim”, Chauhan Said.
He appealed the party functionaries not to involve themselves in any intra party controversies and groupism. He shared that BJP would work with new vigour and enthusiasm in West Sikkim.
