The 205th Bhanu Jayanti Samaroh Samiti 2019 has appealed all social organisations and language and literature lovers in the State to be the part of the state-level celebration of Bhanu Jayanti in the capital on 13 July. The theme of this year celebration is ‘SanskritiSambridhiDiwas’.
The 205th Bhanu Jayanti Samaroh Samiti led by HRDD Minister Kunga Nima Lepcha as the president has presently been working for the grand celebration with series of activities. The celebration will have Sobha Yatra, talks, cultural presentations and presentation of the prestigious Bhanu Puraskar and presentation of Sewa Shree Samman.
Addressing a press conference here today, Nepali Sahitya Parishad Sikkim president, Rudra Poudyal, who is also the working president of the celebration committee, stated that Sikkim has been celebrating Bhanu Jayanti as a cultural festival since long time. He added that Bhanu Jayanti has been celebrated in the state and other levels at different parts of the State. He stated that the celebration of Bhanu Jayanti was the recognition of works of Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta in literature and language.
On the same, Mr Poudyal appealed different organisations and literature and language lovers again to be the part of the grand celebration of Bhanu Jayanti.
Samaroh Samiti general secretary, Chunnilal Ghimirey informed that the morning programme will be held at Bhanu Park and will be followed by Sobha Yatra from Bhanu Park to Manan Kendra. He stated that Sobha Yatra will have the participation of different organisations and school students and the best Jhanki will be awarded by the organising committee. The committee has organised poem recitation and Ramayan recitation competitions in the inter-school and open categories. He informed that winner of each category will get the chance to present during the main celebration on 13 July afternoon at Manan Kendra, which will have the Chief Minister PS Tamang as the chief guest.
The main highlight of afternoon programme is the presentation of the prestigious Bhanu Puraskar and presentation of Sewa Shree Samman. This year prestigious Bhanu Puraskar 2019 will be conferred to a senior theatre artist and litterateur of Sikkim, Dhurba Lohagun. He hails from Naya Bazaar in West Sikkim and has huge contribution towards the development of Nepali language and literature through his works in theatre and writings.
This year Bhasa Sewa Shree Samman will be presented to MB Khulal ‘Deep’, Sahitya Sewa Shree Samman to Amar Baniya ‘Lohoro’, Sangeet Sewa Shree Samman to Norden Lepcha, Chitrakarita Sewa Shree Samman to Lokendra Pradhan, Natya Sewa Shree Samman to Mandeep Lama and Bikram Gautam and Patrakarita Sewa Shree Samman to Pranay Lamichaney and KK Chettri. The committee has also introduced Natya Sewa Shree Samman from this year, which will be presented to Sumi Rai.
