The state-level Capacity Building of Youth on Leadership and Personality Development Through Life Skills was inaugurated by the Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Kunga Nima Lepcha here at Paljor Stadium complex on Tuesday evening. The programme is being organized by Sikkim State National Service Scheme Cell in collaboration with the NSS Cell under Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, Guwahati.
The five-day-long residential programme has 150 NSS volunteers from 75 educational institutions from different parts of the State. The programme will have motivational talks and activities, life skill and personality development trainings, group discussion, debates, yoga, zumba, cultural and other series of activities by experts and resource persons from different government and non-governmental organizations.
The Minister was also accompanied by Secretary to SYA Department, Kuber Bhandari and other officials of the department.
In his inaugural address, the Minister encouraged participants to always work on the theme of NSS ‘Not Me but You’ to serve the society in a better manner. He stated that NSS volunteers can play a very important role to lead and educate their family and society and can contribute in the state and the nation-building process. “I am seeing leaders of future in different areas in every NSS volunteers who can take our society to the right and higher level,” he expressed.
Minister encouraged NSS volunteers to keep a target in their life and follow it with confidence and determination and to have commitment to reach that target. He encouraged them to take the full advantage of the camp to be a motivation for others.
Sports & Youth Affairs Department Additional Director [NSS], Doma Tshering Bhutia mentioned that such programme would help youths to address the challenges of daily life and motivate them through life skill training. She mentioned that the programme has experts, motivational speakers and life skill trainers from different areas. She expressed her hope that the programme would help NSS volunteers to lead their respective areas and people in a better way.
The inaugural function was also addressed by a motivational speaker, Dewakar Basnet and chief mentor of Tycoon International, Sapant Pradhan. The inaugural function also witnessed a yoga and Zumba session by participants.
The inaugural function, which was conducted by SYA Assistant Director, Pincho Bhutia, was concluded with the vote of thanks by State NSS Coordinator, Babita Chettri.
