On the auspicious occasion of Losoong Namsoong which is also recognized as the Annual Harvest Festival of Sikkim, The Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang extends his warm greetings to the people of the state, especially to the Bhutia and Lepcha communities.
In his message the Chief Minister stated that this festival symbolizes attachment of the people with Mother Nature and celebrates it as the agricultural New Year where farmers rejoice and glorify their harvest filling the entire state with a festive spirit.
Losoong Namsoong is the celebration of Sikkimese New Year. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur by the people of Bhutia and Lepcha communities. Cham dance and archery contests are the major attractions where in the cham dance symbolizes an offering to the Gods. The dance not just reflects the festive mood but welcomes the new harvest season.
The Chief Minister has wished for happiness, good health and joy to the people of Sikkim and hope that they will follow the legacy of goodwill, harmony and peace.
