A meeting of Akhil Sikkim Khas Chhetri- Bahun Kalyan Sangh [ASKCBKS] held here on Tuesday. The meeting, which was chaired by Sangh president Tek Bahadur Basnet, has RMDD Minister SB Subedi as the chief guest and attended by executive committee members from all four districts.
An ASKCBKS press release informed that the meeting has discussed on various agendas of the organisation. The meeting has thanked that State Government and the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling for declaring the State holiday on the festival of Teez. The release added that such initiative of the CM was an example of his liberal inclusive policy and his work for the preservation and welfare of all religious and cultural practices. The release added that the State government was working on the process to declare the State holiday on Teez festival since many months.
Organisation president, Basnet mentioned that this initiative of the government was a big achievement of Khas Chettri-Bahun community for the presentation of their religious, cultural and social practices. He asserted that welfare measures for the community would only be successful while working in the close coordination of the State government.
The release stated that RMDD Minister mentioned that this initiative of the CM clearly reflects his honest intention, harmony and equality towards all communities, gender and social and cultural sections.
It is informed that the meeting was also attended by Upper Burtuk MLA, DR Thapa, who was also the former president of the organisation, and Upper Tadong MLA, Timothy William Basnet.
