Governor of Sikkim Ganga Prasad today released a new calendar for 2019, published by Sikkim Ornithological Society here at Raj Bhavan.
President of SOS Nosang Limboo and Secretary SOS Shri Chewang Bonpo were present on the occasion. The calendar contains the pictures of rare and exotic species of birds captured digitally from various locations across the state. It may be mentioned that Sikkim Ornithological Society, the only bird organisation in Sikkim, has been working tirelessly towards conservation and awareness of avian diversity in the State since its inception in 2005.
Governor, while extending New Year greetings to the members of the society, enquired about the activities of the society. He also urged the society to work towards conservation of State’s rich biodiversity in a bid to promote Sikkim as a premier Eco-Tourism destination in the country.
Nosang Limboo, President, provided a brief insight over the activities and awareness intervention of the society towards preserving the exotic species of birds and butterflies of Sikkim.
