A nine-member team of iCompete Natural [ICN], Sikkim has back home with impressive 18 trophies from the recently held ICN Goa Supershow 2019 from 30 November to 02 December at Cavelossim, Goa. In the competition, INC North-East president, Legden Dorjee Bhutia from Sikkim has also been adjudged as champion coach award.
A nine-member ICN Sikkim was accompanied by Ledgen Dorjee Bhutia as team coach and Bishal Pratap Pradhan as team manager. The international-level natural physique, figure bikini and fitness model event had the participation of 399 participants from different parts of the country along with Iran, Italy, Sri Lank and other countries.
In the competition, Akinori Megi bagged second prize in men physique 30 plus and fourth place in men open physique, Kalsang Bhutia stood on third place in bodybuilding 40 plus and again third prize in men physique 40 plus, Tempo Yargay Bhutia stood on the fifth place in men fitness, Arab Dorjee Bhutia also stood on the 5th place in men physique 40 plus, Rupesh stood on the fifth place in men fitness, third prize in men’s street model open and one participation medal and Nima Lama stood on fourth place in men’s street model.
Likewise, Lamin Theeng won second prize each in miss classic figure international, miss figure and miss fitness, Amrita Limboo won participation medal in bikini novice and stood on fifth place in miss fitness open and Rebecca Chettri won the first prize in miss bikini open category, third prize in miss classic figure international and a second prize each in miss figure and miss bikini novice and third prize in bikini first time.
Addressing a press conference here today, ICN north-east president, Mr Bhutia stated that it was totally a natural fitness modeling and bodybuilding event and Sikkim participants have impressed everyone with their outstanding performance. He stated that it was proud and historic moment for the state that nine-member ICN Sikkim team back home with impressive 18 trophies and four participation medals in their debut appearance in the natural fitness modeling and bodybuilding event. “We have lots of potential to do well in the natural fitness modeling and bodybuilding platform and just need little support and encouragement to do better in the future,” he expressed.
Mr Bhutia informed that ICN Sikkim chapter was formed in year 2016 and almost after a hardwork for around three years it has been able to produce international athletes from Sikkim. “We have placed a proposal to the international federation to allow Sikkim to host a international show next year to further promote natural fitness modeling and bodybuilding in the state,” he said.
Team manager, Mr Pradhan stated that this outstanding performance of the state athletes was the result of their discipline, hardwork and dedication. He also thanked the Chief Minister and other individuals for their support in sending teams to the competition. He also thanked the CM for given the priority to the sports in the State.
Likewise, Akinore Megi and Rebecca Chettri expressed their happiness on winning prizes in their debut in the international event. He also stated that such event was important to promote natural fitness modeling and bodybuilding. He also thanked the coach to preparing them for the competition and providing such big platform to the state athletes.
