SKM Govt will complete the ambitious Sreejunga project in West Sikkim assures Golay

Chief minister P.S Golay on Sunday attended 4th Chasok Tongnam celebration here at Ranipool Mela Ground. He was accompanied by PHE minister Bhim Hang Subba, minister for UD&HD Arun Upreti, Power minister M.N Sherpa, former MPs Nakul Das Rai and Pahalman Rai and other dignitaries.
Three days 4th Chasok Tongnam, the harvest festival of Limboo community, organized by Gangtok based Niyara Production had commenced on December 6 amidst many cultural, religious and traditional activities.
Chief minister P.S Golay in his brief address appreciated the efforts put up by Limboo community under the banner of Niyara Production for preservation and redemption of cultural practices of the Limboo community. He congratulated Niyara Production for successful initiation of Chasok Tongnam and expressed that safeguarding the distinct identity of any community in the form of cultural practices was necessitated.
P.S Golay maintained that Limboo community were conscious enough about an urgency to preserve and protect their cultural heritage and Limboos have given a message to other communities of the state to do something necessary for preservation of their distinct identity in the form of culture and traditions. He added that the youth of each and every community should come forward for taking the cultural practices and traditions passed onto the generations by our ancestors.
Chief Minister P.S Golay assured that SKM government would complete the ambitious Sreejunga project in West Sikkim and necessary development of infrastructures would be done at the earliest.
I promise to Limboo community that SKM government will work to bring the Sreejunga project to completion, he said.
Golay further added that SKM government unlike the former SDF government has paved the way for a secular environment for all the distinct communities of the state to organize their festivals and religious practices in an open way.
He maintained that the social organizations should be kept aloof from politics so such organizations could work free and fair.
Chief Minister Golay also called for participations of all the community of the state to maintain peace, tranquility and progress of the state.
He assured all the help for Niyara Production and urged the production that works mainly on film production based on Limboo community to make films on other communities as well.
The managing director of Niyara Production, Niyara Tamling thanked the entire organizing committee members, supporters and Limboo community for their contributions in successful initiation of Chasok Tongnam.
Chief minister P.S Golay along with other personalities were also felicitated by the organizing committee.
The participants troupes in Limboo cultural competitions such as Keylang, Khyaali, Dhaan Naach and Palam were given mementoes and cash prizes.
Singer Sunita Thegim, Brabim Limboo, child artist Kehar Singh Limboo and Tirshana Limboo had also given their permances at the event today.
