Governor of Sikkim Ganga Prasad attended Valedictory Function of Ten Days Sanskrit Speaking Workshop at Kanchi Kamakoti Mandirat Jalipool, East Sikkim on Friday.
The workshop was jointly organised by Sanskrit Bharati, Chinmaya Mission Sikkim Unit and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Sikkim Unit. The valedictory function was also attended by Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Shankardeo Dhakal, Secretary Mines Minerals and Geology Department Shri S B Subba, President Vishwa Hindu Parishad Sikkim Unit C. P Giri, General Secretary Chinmaya Mission Sikkim Unit S. K Sarda, Sanskrit Bharti, North Bengal and Sikkim coordinator Shri Kamal Sharma, Chief Instructor of the workshop Shri Phanindra Gautam among other distinguished personalities, participants, guardians and local gentries.
Addressing the gathering, Governor highlighted the importance and of Sanskrit language in the Indian culture and stressed on the need to promote and make use of the language for better understanding of Indian civilisation and heritage. He mentioned that Sanskrit, being the mother of all major Indian languages, has been presently been acknowledged by the western researchers as one of the most scientific language, best suited for the present day need of computer technology. Governor also underlined the significance of Sanskrit in the context of nation’s unity and integration, besides its benefit to individual and society at large. Governor while making an appeal to everyone to adopt the language for betterment of self and nation, said that by propagating Sanskrit worldwide in its right spirit, we will be able to achieve the goal of VasudhaivaKutumbakam.
Earlier in the programme the participants shared their learning experiences. The program was also addressed by various speakers.
