Criticizing the recent allegation of SKM party of mocking on women by showing incomplete video CM said “I took the reference from the practice against women in different parts to mention about the exemplary works of SDF government for the protection, upliftment and welfare of women of Sikkim in these 24 years,” he said. He was speaking at the historic Rojgar Mela held at Paljor Staduim today.
He mentioned that SKM party has been trying to mislead the people with false issue after being frustrated and desperate. He urged the people not to get misguide but to listen the entire speech of 05 December. He stated that everyone should condemn the act of the opposition.
Mr. Chamling mentioned that Sikkimese women were the most empowered women in the country due to works of SDF government in social justice for women in these 24 years of the government to uplift and empower them. He mentioned that the government has made Women Protection Act and 50% reservation in panchayat and 33% in the government job and took other welfare measures for their betterment and protection. He mentioned that works of SDF government for women were exemplary in the world.
CM has censured the announcement of the SKM president to give free education to two children of a driver. On the same, he stated that SDF government has already been providing the free education to every students of Sikkim.
CM stated that Bhutia-Lepcha community were well known to works of SDF government for their protection and welfare and preservation of their culture, tradition, language and religion. On the same, he urged them not to get misguide by running after the communal and religious issues. He mentioned not to listen to negative element running in the State with slogans of change. On the same, he stated that such element will sale and lease out religious institution and other properties of the State. He mentioned to have the information that opposition has been involved in smuggling.
On Limboo-Tamang seat reservation issue, CM mentioned that SDF government has provided the tribal status to Limboo and Tamang and now the seat reservation in the State Assembly in the hands of the Centre. However, he stated that SDF party would give five candidates from Limboo and Tamang in the upcoming election.
He stated that the Centre has recently 10% reservation to economic weaker section in the general category. He added that SDF has provided the OBC statues to general category and already provided 20% reservation for them.
Speaking to students, the CM urged them not to get misguided and not to run after any political party but just concentrate on their studies. He urged students to think wisely on which party can work in the interest of students and their interest. He stated that Sikkim needs good governance, peace and security and good image. He urged students not to go after communal and religious issues and wrong leadership and irresponsible elements.
He stated that opposition parties have been running by forces from outside the State and it was important to know who were backing opposition parties in the State. “SDF party has been backing by the people of Sikkim and we don’t have any master outside the State as our master is the people of Sikkim and we are very honest and sincere and answerable towards them,” he said. He stated that SDF government has been working on the order of Sikkimese people to fulfil their hopes and aspiration.
CM stated that the determined leadership with self-respect, principle, open-minded, compassion and humanity can only lead the State and its people towards the development. “Sikkim should always remain in right hands so the upcoming election is a big challenge for the people to save Sikkim to go into wrong hands. So it is important to take the politics seriously,” he expressed.
He alleged that opposition parties and their leaders have been running in the State with slogans of the change to create hatred, terror, destruction and to instigate the people. “Such party and elements have been misusing the democracy and mislead the people and threatening the government employees without coming into the power,” he said. He added that it was important for the people to see the track record of the leader to save Sikkim. He mentioned that the common people and working class will suffer if the State will have unrest and destruction. On the same, the CM stated that everyone should come forward to save Sikkim and to work in the interest of Sikkim.
