Teesta-V Power Station celebrated 73rd Independence Day with patriotic fervour and zeal with large crowd of employees of Teesta-V Power Station, IRBn, Home guards, teachers & students of K.V. Singtam, and local people. The celebration started off a day proceeding the Independence day with decoration and lit up of buildings in hues of tricolor at KV School premises. To commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, the Shri Sahadev Khatua, GM(I/c), Teesta-V PS & Teesta-VI PS unfurled the tricolor flag. Speaking on the occasion, he said that it is the historical day to remember our national heroes & freedom fighters who scarified their life in freedom struggle to give us an independent nation. Congratulating the employees for dedicated and consistent team efforts which resulted in generating more than design energy.
He explained early start of Teesta-VI Project by NHPC which will help in overall development of Sikkim.
NHPC-Teesta-V PS has created many infrastructural facilities like School buildings, Community Hall, Foot-path, ITI at Chandey, Water Supply Work, and Toilets at various places for local people in project vicinity under CSR&SD. One tipper is planned to be given to Singtam Nagar Panchayat to keep the town clean. He also highlighted the creation of Gym and Recreation Centre for employees and contract staff & their families on left bank colony.
International Hydro Association has assessed NHPC- Teesta-V PS as the only power station in India as following best practices in world in 20 parameters on Hydropower Sustainability there by getting the International recognition.
This was followed by various cultural programmes by KV School/ Nursery school students and Tug Of War among various participants.
