SKM behind Jorethang Maghey Mela Chaos: Chamling

Chief Minister Pawan Chamling alleged that the SKM party workers were involved in the incident of Jorethang Maghey Mela where police and IRB personals had to lathi charge on 17 January. CM was speaking at the first edition of North East Youth Festival here at Dentam Stadium today. “The SKM party sent 2 – 4 goondas to create chaos at Mela. The thorough enquiry has been ordered and the culprits will be nabbed very soon”, he said. Calling the SKM a political party having support of goondas and hooligans, Chamling termed their call of Parivartan as vague and destructive for Sikkim. “All the goondas and bhattus are with the SKM party. The people need a good government and Sikkim should not fall in destructive hands. We do not need Parivartan that acts as an inhibitor to Sikkim’s progress and prosperities”, he said.
Chief Minister Pawan Chamling attacking the opposition parties of the state claimed “If the opposition parties form the government, they will sell all the religious infrastructures” of the state, he said.
Saying that politics of Sikkim determines the destiny of the state Pawan Chamling exhorted that people should not get carried away by negative propagandas of opposition parties. He added that the political forces having negative and destructive mentality should not be followed by the people. Politics based on cateism and religion must be discarded as such political practices are serious threat to communal harmony and tranquility of Sikkim, he said. What People of Sikkim want Janta Raj or GoondaRaj? People should think carefully, CM cautioned.
He stated that opposition parties have been running by forces from outside the State and it was important to know who were backing opposition parties in the State. “SDF party has been backing by the people of Sikkim and we don’t have any master outside the State as our master is the people of Sikkim and we are very honest and sincere and answerable towards them,” he said. He stated that SDF government has been working on the order of Sikkimese people to fulfil their hopes and aspiration.
CM stated that the determined leadership with self-respect, principle, open-minded, compassion and humanity can only lead the State and its people towards the development. “Sikkim should always remain in right hands so the upcoming election is a big challenge for the people to save Sikkim to go into wrong hands. So it is important to take the politics seriously,” he expressed.
He alleged that opposition parties and their leaders have been running in the State with slogans of the change to create hatred, terror, destruction and to instigate the people. “Such party and elements have been misusing the democracy and mislead the people. He added that it was important for the people to see the track record of the leader to save Sikkim. He mentioned that the common people and working class will suffer if the State will have unrest and destruction. On the same, the CM stated that everyone should come forward to save Sikkim and to work in the interest of Sikkim.
