The seven days golden jubilee celebration of Government Secondary School of Sopakha under Maneybung Dentam Constituency concluded today. The final day of the event had the presence of area MLA and minister N.K Subba as chief guest.
Principals and headmasters of different schools, students and local gentries were also present in the final programme.
The president of organizing committee B.H Limboo in his brief address extended his gratitude to minister N.K Subba for his support for making the event successful. He further conveyed his gratitude to those who lent their hands for organizing golden jubilee commemorative event of the school. He expressed that golden jubilee celebration meant a proud and historical moment for the school.
N.K Subba in his brief address congratulated the school fraternity on attainment of 50 years of illustrious service to the education sector. He remembered the founder members of the school and expressed that their contributions should not be forgotten by people of Sopakha as it was because of their noble deed an educational institution in remote and rural Sopkha was established.
He expressed that Sopakha Secondary School has been able to meet the educational need of local people and the school has served well to give efficient and skilled human resource to the state. Saying that education is most important part of life and provision for easy access to education has been ensured by the state government. He informed about various schemes and policies initiated by the state government for development of educational sector. He added that it was because of good governance of SDF government education sector has witnessed a positive change.
Subba claimed that Sikkim has attained 100% literacy rate and the state has surpassed the state of Kerala in terms of literacy rate. “It is due to effective education policies of the state government the education sector has improved. Utmost priority has been given to the educational sector”, he said.
The organizing committee today felicitated Minister N.K Subba for his contributions towards the society. Land donor, former teachers and former non-teaching staffs of the school were also felicitated in the programme.

The final match of Golden Jubilee Celebration Football Touralnament was also played today. In the one sided match Stallion FC (Tashiding) defeated Rimbi FC with the score of 8 to 3 and emerged victorious. The winner and runners up teams was given trophy and cash prizes.
