Training cum demonstration program on off farm inputs was held at Mabong, West Sikkim under MOVCD (Mission Organic Value Chain Development). The training was organized by FPO in collaboration with HCC&DD and Service Provider Agency Mevedir. The several Farmer Interest Groups affiliated with the FPO were invited as participants to this training program to receive these off farm inputs and to be aware of how to use these organic certified inputs in their major cash crops.
The key participants of this training were Shri D.K. Rai (Field Assistant, HCCDD), Mr. Tula Ram, Smt. Sancha Maya Rai (member of Livelihood Service Provider) and Mr. P. R. Rai and Passang Bhutia from Indian Gramin Service. The resource person of this training was Mr. Diwash Chettri from Mevedir.
The training session was chaired by Shri D.K. Rai who welcomed all the participants and briefed about the MOVCD (Mission Organic Value Chain Development and the various schemes under MOVCD. Thereafter Mr. Diwash from Mevedir explained the farmers about the importance of macro nutrients like NPK (Nitrogen Phosphorus & Potassium) and how these nitrogen fixing bacteria improves the growth and yield of plants.
In the next session Mr. Diwash Chettri briefed about the usage of bio fertilizers and bio pesticides for controlling pest & diseases. The proper dosage of the bio fertilizers like Calospiral, Rhizobium (nitrogen), Azatobacter(nitrogen), Phosphorus Solubilising Bacteria (PSB), Futeria (potash) and Nano NPK fertilizer and bio pesticides like Bio Magic and Bio Power for seed treatment, foliar spray and application in the soil for different kind of pest & pathogens which harms the crops was explained to the farmers. The difference types of symbiotic and asymbiotic micro organisms and their roles were also enlightened to the farmers. The farmers were also explained about the Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliea which is entomopathogenic fungus and used as bio pesticides for controlling pest like borers, white grubs, cutworms, root grubs, leafhoppers, whitefly, Aphids, and mealy bug etc.
The assembled participants were thanked for their time and encouraged to use theses inputs as instructed in the training program. The farmers were also informed that any other queries or difficulty in application of these inputs Mr. Diwash Chettri from Mevedir would be available to explain and assist the farmers. More than 25 farmers attended this training program. The training program was concluded with the vote of thanks by Shri D.K. Rai.
