Traditional food competition displays best of Lepcha cuisine

Innovative Lepcha traditional food competition was held at Gor Secondary School, Lower Dzongu North Sikkim on the occasion of annual day celebration today.

Innovative Lepcha traditional food competition was held at Gor Secondary School, Lower Dzongu North Sikkim on the occasion of annual day celebration today.  The competition was held among four houses if the school.

The different kind of delicious Lepcha cuisine were prepared which was tasted by chief guest Deputy Speaker SLA cum area MLA, Sonam Gyatso Lepcha as a chief guest.

The judge Naren Sharma, Nutrition Inspector tasted the food and has declared Panding Chu house as a first winner followed by Sonylchu  and Tending chu second and third positions.

The headmistress Tseten Lhamu Lepcha highlighted about the annual activities of the school and also underlined about the motive behind organising the food competition.

Also in the function, the  plant biodiversity bulletin for Lum/Gor/Sangtok GPU compiled by school was released by the chief guest.  The  function also had the award ceremony of the prizes to the meritorious students who have excelled in studies and for best class in wrappers collection, best class in bottle collection, best vegetable and flower garden etc.

The function was also attended by ADC Development, KR Limboo, Range Officer Fisheries, Sonam Lepcha, Assistant Director HRDD, HL Giri,  Zilla Panchayat, Tshering Gyatso Lepcha, Panchayat President, Ms. Phurmit Lepcha and the parents.

Gor Secondary School under the aegis of its headmistress has initiated the implementation of handmade products made by the teachers and the students as their extra-curricular activities.  The handmade greeting cards, souvenir, badges etc. were used in the function rather than buying market products.
