SDF condemns SKM allegations, terms it a ploy to mislead people

“SDF congratulates Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on completion of 24th Government Formation Day”

Press Release

Gangtok, Dec 27

The ruling SDF party on Thursday strongly condemned the allegation of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha against the government and the SDF party regarding the Saramsa function.

In a press release SDF Spokesperson KT Gyalsten said that the allegations leveled against the government and the SDF party by the opposition on this issue are baseless, incorrect, misleading and simply the figment of their wild imagination to score political points and to mislead the people. This simply reflects that they lack vision and political philosophy he added.

Holding of such programs or meetings with the government officials and the people’s representatives is not only within the constitutional powers and privileges of the Chief Minister but also a matter of duties and responsibilities release added.

The release further added that the system of parliamentary democracy represents democratic federalism and the supremacy of the people.  It is with the support and mandate of the people governments are formed in the states and at the centre, which represents the Union of India as provided under the Constitution of India and other relevant provisions of the law.

Under the able and visionary leadership of Pawan Chamling, the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) was founded on 4th March, 1993 with the firm conviction based on pro-people policies and programs to restore democracy and the rule of law in the State of Sikkim.  With the support of the people SDF party was successful in forming its first people’s government on 12th December, 1994.

After forming its first people’s government in Sikkim based on the political philosophy and slogan “Janta Raj Ma Jantai Raja” which defines a government, for, by and of the people, it has been the tradition for the state and the people to observe and celebrate 12th December, as the day of formation of the Sikkim Democratic Front Government.  This special day has been continuously observed every year as a government program to celebrate and respect the victory of the people and the success of democracy.

However, this year due to the Losoong/Namsoong festivals the government formation day could not be observed on 12th December, the scheduled date.  As such the same is being observed on 28th December, 2018. The object for observing this day is further reflected in the office Circular as, “It is an occasion to introspect and take stock of the achievements made during the last 24 years since the formation of the Sikkim Democratic Front Government on 12th December, 1994 and take a pledge to re-dedicate ourselves to the tasks that lie ahead”.

Since the SDF government has completed 24 years after formation of its first people’s government it is a historic occasion to unite and celebrate.   Further, since Pawan Chamling has also made history as the longest serving Chief Minister in India, we stand to celebrate and congratulate Pawan Chamling the Chief Minister for his vision and leadership and the peace loving people of Sikkim for their untainted support and co-operation.

Further, on this historic occasion the SDF party congratulated Pawan Chamling the Chief Minister, for his leadership, the government officials of all ranks for their services and the peace loving people of Sikkim for their continuous support release added.
