The silver jubilee celebration of Western Modern English Junior High School (WMEJHS) commenced today here at the school. The inaugural programme of 7 days commemorative event was graced by ADC (development, Geyzing) Milan Subba as the chief guest. Also present were teachers from various schools, students, parents and others.
WMEJHS, a private educational institution was established in the year 1994 has served the education sector of the state since 25 years. The school, since its establishment has been instrumental in fulfilling the educational needs of local people.
The principal of the school, Deepa Ghishing while presented a brief history of the school. She mainatained that the silver jubilee celebration is worth to be cherished and it was a historical moment for the school. She shared that it was a moment of pride for the entire school fraternity as the school which had a humble begining from 2 rented rooms in 1994 has attained 25 years of service to the education sector.
“WMEJHS has witnessed many ups and down during its 25 years of journey. It was due to commitment and dedications of the school management committee, teaching and non teaching staffs, the school has come this far and has been able to fulfill the educational needs of the people since 25 years. WMEJHS has become a centre of learning and I feel that our struggles have paid off well. I am thankful to those who stood by the school in thick and thin”, she said.
She further informed that effort is being made to bring about improvement so that the school could play a pivotal role in holistic development of the education sector.
Chief guest of the inaugural day, Milan Subba congratulating the school for the attainment of 25 years expressed that, WMEJHS has created a history and the service being provided by the school in the field of education is commendable. “It is a glorious day for WMEJHS and I wish that the school will keep working as a torch bearer in the field of education in future as well”, he said.
Maintaining that education is one of the primary needs of the people, Milan Subba mentioned that an educated society plays a crucial role in the development and progress of the state.
He exerted that in the world which is full of competitions, the students must remain focused towards their studies.
The attraction of the first day’s commemorative event was cultural activities. Inter school singing competition was the highlight of the inaugural day. Alisha Sherpa from Vision Academy, Darap stood first while Marious Rai of Darap Senior Secondary School and Purnimaya Rai of Pelling Senior Secondary School secured second and third positions respectively. The top three participants will be awarded in the final day of the programme.
The president of Silver Jubilee Celebration Committee, Hemant Subba informed that seven days commemorative event would be full of cultural, sporting and other activities.
