Annual Holy Convention 2019 of Diocesan Women’s Fellowship for Christian Service [DWFCS] has commenced here at Martin Memorial Church on PNG School Raod on Tuesday evening. The three-day long convention is being organised by Women Fellowship of Christian Service Diocese of Eastern Himalaya, Church of North Sikkim.
The convention was inaugurated with the opening prayer by Dean of Sikkim Deanery Rev Jenus Lepcha. The convention has the participation of women of different age groups from different parts of Sikkim, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Dooars and other parts of the country.
The convention has Sister Ruby Lall from Delhi as the main speaker, while the Bible study will be led by Rev Nina M from Darjeeling and Alice Das from Delhi. The convention also has Vijay Russel and Mavis Russel from Delhi as resource persons.
The opening ceremony has also witnessed felicitation of guests, dance by WFCS Kalimpong and other activities.
Speaking to media persons, DWFCS president Martha Rani Rai mentioned that DWFCS convention held every year in the month of January or February in the active participation of women of different age groups. She stated that Sikkim was hosting this annual convention again after a long time. She added that the convention was mainly touches on spiritual, social, intellectual and other areas and on the role of the women in the family and the society. The convention will be concluded on 10 January.
