On the auspicious Moksada Ekadasi,International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Gangtok organized Gita Jayanti Festival, the advent of Bhagavad Gita for the first time in Sikkim.
The festival was celebrated in Manan Bhawan in Gangtok itself.
The program started with Invocation Mantra recitation by ISKCON Gangtok Manager Madhava Kanata Das followed by welcoming of the Chief Guest Honorable Founding Vice Chancellor, Sikkim State University His Excellency Dr.Gopal K Nirola as well as other distinguished Guest(s).
Crowd comprising of Head of the Institutes of different schools, fellow students accompanied by their respected teachers was witnessed.
Students took part actively in different cultural activities like Drama, onstage Bhagavad Gita Sloka recitation, Quiz competition based on Bhagavad Gita, Debate competition on the Relevance of Bhagavad Gita in Modern Era imparting the value of practical application of Bhagavad Gita in life.
His Excellency Dr.Gopal K Nirola addressed the crowd expressing “the dire need of inculcation of Bhagavad Gita in Modern Era and most importantly upon inculcation applying the eternal wisdom of Bhagavad Gita that is Lord Krishna’s direct instruction in life to attain the
true state of Happiness”.
The program ended with beautiful takeaway message by ISKCON Gangtok Manager Madhava Kanata Das:
“ Bhagavad Gita is not a religious book in fact it is the manual for all people across the globe to apply in there respective life to make there
life happy and stress free. It is not only for the spiritual people but it is for all mankind be that students, teachers, scientists, economists, politicians, workers, householders, every human to apply in life practically”.
Free Copies of Bhagavad Gita were distributed to all participants as well as to all the people assembled in the audience followed by serving
of lunch at 2.15 p.m.
