In a sport dominated by hierarchy often the kids gets overlooked but they are no less than anyone when it comes to spirit of completion and bringing glory.
Recently at the Open National Kyorugi & Poomsae Taewkondo Championship held in Kolkata from 28th December to 30th December, 13 players from Sikkim comprising of 8 Boys and 5 Girls have clinched, 8 Gold, 1 Silver and 4 Bronze medals competing with children from across India.
This competition also known as Taek fest was organized by Bengal Taekwondo Association which marked its fifth season.
Their coach Sabina Sundas who is a black belt expressed her happiness with students and has thanked everyone for support and encouragement.
She has particularly mentioned MS Dozong under SATA for supporting the players from Sikkim.
Further she added that Sikkim has the potential to reach the pinnacle particularly in martial arts which will nit just hone young minds into a disciplined person but also let children explore other less charted career paths.
Team Managers Arnila Gurung and Devi Sundas have also thanked the parents for supporting the childrens dream.

With young children both boys as well as girls showing avid interest in this form of martial arts, they have appealed for more practice venues and more attention to the upcoming discipline.
Parents of the children practicing this form of martial arts and others like Karate have asked the sports department and the government to do more in the direction of making this discipline more popular.
Martial arts including Taekwondo not only gives a healthy body but also diciplines the mind in todays turbulent times, adds parents.
