The ten days discourse on Sanskrit language has begun here at Sanskrit School of Lower Bermiok under Geyzing Bermiok constituency, West Sikkim. The event is jointly managed by LokBhasaPracharSamiti and Sanskrit Pathsala of Lower Bermiok. The inaugural day of the event was attended by Saroj Kumar Das, Sanskrit scholar from Odisha as a resource person. The general secretary of School Management Committee Jalandhar Nepal was also present along with Sanskrit scholars from Odhisa, students of the school and others.
Jalandhar Nepali speaking about objectives of the initiative informed that the ten days discourse and training on Sanskrit language is organized to propagate and popularize Sanskrit in rural areas of Sikkim. He said that the students would be made the part of activities based on reading, writing and speaking Sanskrit during ten days workshop. Terming Sanskritlanguage as root of other Indo – European languages, Nepal pressed for need of propagation and protection of ancient Sanskrit language.
Resource person Saroj Kumar Das deliberated on how to learn Sanskritlanguage in an easy ways through simple and effective methods. Describing Sanskrit as a beautiful language, Das informed that Sanskrit would make it easier to learn and understand other languages. He stressed that need for preserving and popularizingSanskrit language has become an urgency considering the rapid degradation in usage of Sanskritlanguage in a modern world.
One of the teacher of the school D.R Sharma informed that each day of the ten days discourse would be informative and knowledge based. “The students will have an opportunity to be the part of study related to Sanskrit language every day and the Sanskrit scholars from Sikkim and other states will deliver discourse on various subject and aspects of Sanskrit language”, Sharma said.
The first day of the event also saw presentation of cultural dance performance and other activities based Sanskrit language.
