The Dikchu Senior Secondary School defeated the Legend Boys by 2-1 goals and lifted the Open Men’s Football tournament trophy at Gor Secondary School, Dzongu North Sikkim with the cash award of Rs. 30,000/- while the runner up team was awarded with the cash prize of Rs 20,000/- with the trophy. The final match of the tournament was held today on the auspicious occasion of the School Annual day. A total of 24 teams from across the state have enlisted their names for the tournament.
The function was graced by Bindeswari Prasad, Chief Engineer, Roads & Bridges Department, Government of Sikkim as a chief guest.
The Headmistress of the school, Ms. Tseten Lhamu Lepcha underlined about the academic performance of the school.
The Zilla member, Tsheringg Gyatso Lepcha in his speech informed about the incomplete construction and maintenance of roads in the GPU and also placed the memorandum to the Chief Engineer for early solutions. He also highlighted about the long pending work of bridge at Phee Khola connecting Shagyong village with Gor.
The chief guest also taken the innovative Lepha tradition food where the best food was adjudged to yellow house.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest appreciated the organic farming and the reusable of wrappers undertaken by Gor Secondary School.
At the concluding of the event, the raffle was also drawn of which the winning numbers are as follows. 1st Prize: 0633 2nd 1301, 3rd 0323, consolation prizes: 1361, 1244, 0087.
The function also saw the prize distribution of the school academic of the year. The students of the school also presented the colorful cultural programme.
Also present the function were the panchayat and the Zilla members, SMCs, teachers, students and the general public.
