The three-day-long 1st North East Youth Festival concluded today here at Dentam Stadium under Maneybung-Dentam Constituency , West Sikkim. The festival was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on Jan 21. The three day long festival was organized by state’s youth development board.
The festival was participated by around 1200 hundred youth from across North Eastern states including Sikkim.
The valedictory function was attended by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly speaker, KN Rai as the chief guest, he was accompanied by HR&DD cum Sports & Youth Affairs Minister, RB Subba, area MLA, Narendra Kumar Subba and various other dignitaries including DC West, Dr. AB Karki.
The main attraction of today’s programme was Half Marathon, in which Suran Raj Subba, Ganga Hang Limboo and Darpan Rai from Sikkim bagged first, second and third positions respectively in the men’s category. In women category, Suhila Rai, Kusum Chettri and Anila Bhutia adjudged first, second and third winners respectively.
The festival witnessed various competitions including Muaythai, Karate, Taekwondo etc. in which the players from the guest states abled to grabbed 410 medals in total.
The festival was also enthralled by the visiting as well as the local artistes by performing traditional and fold dances.
The programme concluded after the chief guest handed over the medals and certificates to the players.
