Sikkim Celebrates Republic Day with Zeal and Pomp

The 70th Republic Day was being celebrated with full pomp & show at Songbing football ground ( near hot spring) Lingdem under Dzongu Sub Division.

MANGAN, JAN 27

The 70th Republic Day was being celebrated with full pomp & show at Songbing football ground ( near hot spring) Lingdem under Dzongu Sub Division. The programme was graced by Sonam Gyatso Lepcha, Deputy Speaker.SLA cum Area MLA. 30.Dzongu Constituency.Present on the function were Zilla/ Gram Panchyats of all the GPUs, SDM Dzongu,BDO Dzongu all Heads of Offices, their staffs and large gathering of the general public. A colorful cultural programme were presented by the students The programme was organised jointly organised by Sub Divisional Administration Dzongu & Songbing Tourism Development Management Committee Lingdem. JORETHANG, JAN 27

The Republic Day 2019 was celebrated with the spirit of Nationalism and Patriotism at State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Jorethang, on Jan 26. Minister-cum-Area MLA of Salghari Zoom constituency Mr Arjun Kumar Ghatani graced the occasion as the Chief Guest alongside Chairman Nayabazar Jorethang Municipal Council Mr Tika Gurung, Dy. Chairperson Ms. Pema Tamang, Counsellors, Sub Divisional Magistrate Jorethang Mr. Tshering Bhutia, SDPO Sonam Wangdi Bhutia, Block Development Officer Prem Kumar Rai, officials under Jorethang Sub Division and local gentry.

Sub Division Level Celebration of Republic Day 2019 was organised by State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Rural Management and Development Department, Government of Sikkim in collaboration with the office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Jorethang, South Sikkim.

The auspicious occasion of Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.

The Chief Guest of the occasion Mr Arjun Kumar Ghatani, in his address, elaborated importance and significance of the Republic Day of India and recalled contributions of freedom fighters and Indian Nationalist personalities to make India a Republic country. He paid honour to the architect of Indian Constitution Dr. BR Ambedkar for his incredible role to frame Indian Constitution, a longest constitution in the world.

Mr Ghatani also congratulated Ms. Draupadi Ghimirey for receiving prestigious honour of Padma-Shri award for Social Work- Divyang Welfare from the President of India on the Republic Day Celebration in New Delhi.

He also congratulated Police Medal awardee other awardees and Jorethang Sr Secondary School for securing 1st position in National Inter School Band Competition, the band display team  also met the Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi on 24th January 2019 in New Delhi. He applauded the achievement of Sikkim to present tableaux of Organic Sikkim and Swachha Sikkim in today’s Republic Day celebration in New Delhi.

He underlined developmental activities accomplished by the state government during the last 25 years of good governance under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister Mr Pawan Chamling. He mentioned that the Organic Mission, Chief Ministers Meritorious scholarship scheme, Dr BR Ambedkar Scholarship Scheme, 10 minutes to earth, pilgrimage development, CATCH Programme etc. have reflected impressive result in development of state in various spheres.

Further, he emphasised on medical health facilities being provided in all districts hospitals and other health centres too. Newly inaugurated 1000 bedded Multi Speciality Hospital at Sichey is the historic development in health sector to provide special medical care to the people, as envisioned by the Chief Minister, he added.

He also threw lights on achievements made by 08-Salghari Zoom Constituency and highlighted ongoing  construction of  50 bedded Mother and Child Care Hospital, development of other additional infrastructures in Jorethang Community Health Centre,  programmes to generate massive health awareness , upgradation of Schools at Sawaligaon and Sisney, Establishment of SDM office at Jorethang, Bazar beautification, new road connectivity in entire constituency. 

Earlier, the Republic Day message of the Governor of Sikkim and the Chief Minister of Sikkim were also read out on the occasion. The programme concluded with the thanks proposed by the SDM Jorethang.(IPR)


NAMCHI, JAN 2

 The district level Republic Day was celebrated amidst much grandeur at the Community Hall, on Jan 26. Organized by South, District Administration Centre  in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Namchi Sikkim, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India had Minister of Roads and Bridges & Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department Mr. G.M. Gurung as the Chief Guest. Also present, during the celebration were Zilla Adhakshya (South) Ms. Farwanti Tamang, Chairman Namchi Municipal Council Uday Chandra Rai, DC (South) Mr. Prabhakar Verma, Sr. SP (South). Shammi Rai, SDM Namchi (Hq) Mr.Hemant Rai, SDM Namchi. ms.Choden Gyatso,HoDs, Officials and students at large.

At the onset of the celebration the Chief Guest received the Guard of Honour followed by unfurling of the National Flag and singing  the National Anthem by the students of winter sports coaching camp (Sports and Youth Affairs Department). 

Thereafter, the DC (South) presented the welcome address followed by reading of Republic Day message from the Governor Mr. Ganga Prasad while ADC (South) Mr Satyen Pradhan read out the Republic Day message of the Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling respectively. 

 Extending his greetings on the occasion of Republic Day, the chief guest remembered all the freedom fighters who have laid their life in freedom struggle n made this day possible. Conveying his respect and gratitude to those brave soldiers and stalwarts who made the supreme sacrifice for this great country, he also elaborated on the allign duties and responsibilities as a Indian citizen to take the country forward.

The Chief Guest also elaborated on Sikkim’s contributions towards the nation building process in own special way under the leadership of the Chief Minister Mr Pawan Chamling. The State Government has initiated many key initiatives, innovative programmes and formulated policies, plans and schemes  which have made visible transformation on the socio economic development of the State, he added.

Focusing on the students, he urged them to be  determined about their education and  motivate towards attaining higher goals.  In the same manner, he also appealled them to inspire from great personalities and bring transformation in their life. The chief guest also urged everyone to renew our pledge to march further ahead and make Sikkim the best State in the world.

During the course of the programme, the officials and staff of different departments were bestowed with the District Meritorious Service Award. The Chief Guest and the dignitaries presented the Letter of Appreciation and awards to various awardees. The awardees were Junior Engineers Ms. Syndriya Rai, Mr. Pravesh Sherpa, Mr. Husian Rai, Mr. Laden Sherpa and Mr. Prabin Rai from Energy and Power Department. Likewise, Retired Senior Private Secretary Mr. Dilip Kumar Rai from Rural Management and Development Department also received an award.

Similarly, Assistant Paravets of Animal Husbandry, Livestock and Veterinary Services Mr Saran Kumar Tamang, Mr.Shanker Pradhan and Mr. Kalzang Gyatso Bhutia.

From South District Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Namchi Mrs.Anjana Silal, Sub Inspector, Rinzing Dorjee Lepcha, Home Guard  Ms.Indra Kumari Chhetri, Home Guard Mr Phurba Sherpa were also provided awards.

A colourful cultural programme by the children and students of in and around Namchi also marked the day.

On the occasion, a total of seven students who have excelled in seven discipline in 20 days winter coaching camp were also given Certificate of Appreciation by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department. (IPR)

MARCHAK, JAN 27

70TH Republic day celebrated at Sector Headquarters SSB Gangtok at Marchak with traditional fervor & gaiety on Jan 26. On this occasionB.K Pal, Dy. Inspector General SSB Gangtok hoisted the National Flag. A traditional Guard of Honor was also presented by the troops of SSB to the National Flag.

B.K.Pal DIG SSB, while addressing, congratulated to the officers & personnel and remembered those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of country. He urged the officers and personnel to work with dedication and determination. On the occasion he also read out the message of DG SSB and name of SSB personnel who have been approved by the president of India for award of President’s Police medal for Distinguished Services and Police medal for meritorious services. Later sweets were distributed among all.

SSB Troops also participated in Republic Day Parade organized by state Govt. at Paljor stadium Gangtok.


GYALSHING, JAN 27

The 70th Republic Day program was celebrated in a grandeur manner at  the District Administration Center, Rabdentse, West Sikkim.  S. B. Subedi, Minister,  RMDD chaired the celebration as the Chief Guest along with DC West; SP West, ADC West; Padmashree Kedar Gurung; HODs and other dignitaries. 

In his address to the gathering Shri. Subedi congratulated all on the occasion of Republic Day. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the defense forces of the country who have done a lot for everyone to be kept safe. He stated that their sacrifices have indeed kept Sikkim and the country safe. He then thanked the officials and the administrative staffs who have worked hard. He also urged the officials to continue working selflessly for the benefit of the public. 

He also congratulated the awardees along with the entire administrative section.

The Message of Governor and  Chief Minister of Sikkim was read out by DC and ADC West respectively. 

The Chief Guest also handed over Felicitations to Officers and Staffs of DAC for their services for the West District. 

Meritorious Award for Best Performing Schools of West District went to  Lingchom Sr. Sec School, Gangyap Secondary School, Darapthang Junior High School,  Lower Tadong Primary school. 

Meritorious Award for Best Performing Employees of West District are Bikash Rai & Bikash Subba (Best Booth Level Officer), Joshep Lepcha (ACF,KNP), . Urmila Subba (RO,Wildlife), Nar Bdr. Thapa(Asst. Livestock Inspector/Ah,LF&VS), Baudaman Chettri (Meter Reader,Power Deptt.) and Aita Hang Subba(2nd SHO,Soreng)

III. Champions of West District Awardees are Sonam G. Bhutia (SE, Buildings &Housing Deptt.), Tushar Nikhare, IAS (SDM/Geyzing), Santosh Alley (Sr. Welfare Officer),  Dr. Tseten Namgyal Bhutia (CMO, District Hospital Gyalshing), Amrit Rai (RO/LRMD), Dilip Sharma,DCSO, Surat Kr. Gurung(ADC/Dev), T. Eden, Addl. Director (HRDD), H.B Shanker, CDPO. 

A special showcasing of Arms were exhibited by the SSB during the Republic Day Program at the DAC.  

PAKYONG, JAN 27

70th Republic Day was celebrated here at Pakyong Sub-Division Level at Pakyong SDM complex on Jan 26.

Minister DT Lepcha who was present as the Chief Guest unflured the National Flag followed by singing of National Anthem by the Sub-Division Level Police personal and Students of JNV Pakyong. 

While addressing the gathering at the SDM Complex where sub-divisional level officers,  staffs,  local Panchayat and public had gathered, the Chief Guest gave good wishes of the day and told to the remember the fredom fighters though which we got freedom, our constitutions were formed and we got this opportunity to celebrate the day. 

It is a great day for us that under the leadership of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling  our state have achieved many feats in many sectors world wide. 

We must feel proud about the achievements made by our state despite our political parties.

People only oppose but they do not have proper plan and suggestions for development of the society and the state.

If a wise people in the society keeps silence,  the general public will be misleaded by opportunists. 

He urged the presented wise people, government officers, retired and civil societies to lead the present Society and tell them about the development and progress happening in the state. We must compare our state Sikkim’s development with rest of the states in the country, and we find a vast differences

He informed about various developmental projects which have come up in terms of tourism,  pilgrimage, organic farming, and other sectors. One Family One Job has provided opportunities to poor people to avail government job and earn. 

For the last twenty five years our Sikkim has progressed and developed which is through the good vision and direction of the Pawan Chamling. 

He also informed about Homestay ecotourism, a major boom in the Gnathang Machong Constituency over the last four years. 

Opposition parties who are destructive in their ways wants to change government and system, But it will not be successful, he added. 

Our government will come into power in the coming election with ease. There will be no any difficulties. 

The Minister said,  “My priority is to show good path to our younger generation” and make them self reliant. 

He urged all to cooperate to make Pakyong Sub-Division, a sub-divisiob best in the state.  

Earlier,  SDM Pakyong Mr. TD Denzongpa read the message of Governor of Sikkim Ganga Prishad and BDO Pakyong Mr. Chiren Rizal read the message of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling. 

Students of JNV Pakyong presented Patriotic songs and skit based on Swatch Bharat. 

GANGTOK, JAN 27

High Court of Sikkim celebrated the 70th Republic Day with solemnity and patriotic fervour at the high court premises today.

Hon’ble Mr Justice Vijai Kumar Bist, Chief Justice, High Court of Sikkim, unfurled the National Flag and received the guard of honour in the presence of esteemed legal fraternity.   

The function had the illustrious presence of Judge, High Court of Sikkim, Hon’ble Mrs Justice Meenakshi M. Rai, Judge, High Court of Sikkim, Hon’ble Mr Justice Bhaskar Raj Pradhan, and Former Judge High Court of Sikkim, Hon’ble Mr Justice A.P. Subba.

Also present were the Registrar General, High Court of Sikkim, Registrar, Senior Counsels, officials of High Court of Sikkim and members of the Bar. (IPR)
