State Bank of Sikkim Employees Association (SBSEA) organised its Annual General Meeting at Rangpo in East Sikkim on Jan 26. The meeting was attended by all the executives members and more than three hundred members of the association.
The meeting started with welcome speech by Vice President of the association NT Bhutia, followed by address by general secretary of the association Mr. Rapden Bhutia.
Mr. Rapden Bhutia said any association works for the welfare of the members and staffs, like wise SBSEA has been working for the welfare of the staffs whose voice and demands are not heard by the management, suppressed or they cannot approach to the management, promotion, transfer, medical facilities related issues have been taken and solve over the years.
The main motive of organising the AGM is to discuss about conducting the election of the association, to make ammendments in the by-laws and to place yearly reports.
He said we want the management, Board of directors and the state government to keep the Special Banking Pay which was introduce since the inception of the Bank in the year 1968, to keep as it is, not to keep as allowance. During recent board members meeting it has been enhance and kept as allowance, but our association demands for special banking pay.
We also urged the government to upgrade the retirement age of our staffs up-to sixty years, as all banking sectors in the country follows retirement age sixty.
Treasurer placed the annual income and expenditure of the association.
President of the association Sunil Tamang said it is the duty of all staffs to give their best service to the banks so that our bank may progress and our demands will be heard.
If the staffs of the Bank contribute best from their capacities, the State Bank of Sikkim does not need to hire others and our services will be worthless. He also urged the presented members of decide on conducting election of the association.
Advisor Arjun Roka in his address appreciated the works done by the association for the welfare of the association.
The meeting unanimously decided to keep the old executive members to work for he welfare of the association for their period of three years.
Mr. Sunil Tamang is appointed as President, Nanga Tshering Bhutia as Vice President, Mr. Rapden Bhutia as General Secretary, Jai Kumar Rai as Treasurer and Dawa Zangpo Bhutia and Dawa Sherpa as Assistant General Secretary.
