Football Players Association of Sikkim [FPAS] has convened a meeting on Thursday to discuss upon its future programmes and activities. The meeting was chaired by FPAS president Nirmal Chettri and attended by executive members Sanju Pradhan, Nim Tshering Lepcha and Mayal Dok Lepcha and other members of the association.
While speaking on aims and objective of the organisation, FPAS presidents expressed that the association was ‘for and by’ footballers of Sikkim to work for the welfare and betterment of the local footballers. He encouraged local footballers to be active in the organisation and stressed upon to include more footballers through membership drive.
A thorough deliberation, the meeting has decided to start a membership drive to include present and former footballers including women footballers of Sikkim in the FPAS family. It has been decided that the existing members would be reaching out the footballers to seek their participation as members in the organisation. The meeting also discussed upon another important agenda of the registration of the FPAS with the Sikkim government. The association has decided to immediately move for documentation and seek registration with the government within one and half months.
It has been informed that the urgency to register the organisation to start its activities for the betterment and welfare of the Sikkimese footballers in an organised manner. FPAS has also been working to host the annual Indian football awards function of Football Players Association of India [FPAI] in coming April-May at Gangtok. It is informed that FPAS and FPAI were discussing on possibility to host the prestigious FPAI award function at Gangtok. The FPAS would be further communicating with the FPAI regarding the award function and explore the way forward, it is informed.
