DC (South) Ragul K chaired a district level coordination meeting of all the departments at Conference Hall of DAC, today. Present amongst others were SP (South) Mr. Prawin Gurung, ADC (South) Satyam Kr. Pradhan, SDM (HQ) Chiran Rizal alongside SDMs, BDOs, HoDs of various line departments.
Raghul in his address outlined the objective of this meeting which is to look into the status of the various schemes implemented and also to be appraised regarding various needs and requirements of the line departments. The DC spoke in detail about the directions laid down by the State Government for the scrutiny of One Family One Job after which progress account of the same was put forward by the concerned officials. He then enquired with the BDOs about the establishment of solid waste management at the respective blocks and explained that for this management identification of proper land is of utmost importance and informed that the team of officials will soon head for an inspection. He also detailed about matters relating to various ongoing and impending polices and programmes in the district such as Jal Shakti Abhiyan, CPF Awareness Workshop, Summary Revision of Electrol Roll, Block Level Bankers Committee Meeting and urged the officials to comprehensively participate in these policies.
The DC also discussed about the Child-Friendly GPU which has been an initiative of the District Child Protection Unit (South) under ICPS,SJE&WD. DCPO ( South/West) Ms. Roshnila Gurung spoke at length about the aim and objective of this initiative which is to institute a child protection mechanism at the grassroot level in order to promote a child-friendly environment. She added that this Child-friendly GPU would constitute of activities and programmes to educate and sensitize the communities about child rights and child protection issues. In addition, Ms. Gurung emphasized that in order for this initiative to be successful smooth coordination and planning will be needed from other line departments.
Speaking, during the meeting SP Mr. Prawin Gurung deliberated about traffic congestion issues happening in Namchi. He added that a strategic long term solution should be sought after by the concerned line departments. Mr. Gurung also called upon the officials from the line departments and expounded the vital need for them to understand legal background before issuing any kind of certificate for the convenient of the public at large. Furthermore, he urged for a joint inspection to be conducted at Namchi Bazaar.
The meeting also saw an open discussion wherein various departmental issues and queries were discussed in detail.
