Will contest and win the election from Namchi-Singhithang and make the record of 40 yrs as Area MLA: Chamling

Sikkim Democratic Front President, the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has hinted that the ruling party would give the 50% of party tickets to new faces and 50% to senior leaders of the party in the upcoming election.
He also indicated that
30% of tickets would be provided to women candidates. He was speaking to media
persons at Mintokgang on Wednesday.
CM mentioned that the party has been working towards to give the 50% of party tickets to new faces and 50% to senior leaders of the party in the upcoming election. “I have desire to give 30% reservation to women in the distribution of the party tickets. However, the people wants to men candidates but I have the personal desire to give 30% of tickets to women candidates,” he said. While enquiring about on when the ruling party would declare its candidates, he informed that the party would announce its candidates immediately after the announcement of the election dates.
While responding to queries about the rumours on the SDF president will contest the upcoming election from other constituency, Mr Chamling clarified that he would contest the election from his own constituency of Namchi-Singhithang and would not change his constituency so there was no any question of changing the constituency. “I will win the election for the eighth time from my constituency and would make the record of 40 years of Area MLA from the same constituency,” he said.
While responding on the queries of the defeat of SDF party from Rangrang-Yangang in 2014 by-elections, the CM mentioned on regretting on the defeat of the party in by-election and even the people of the constituency have been regretting till date so now it would not happen again and SDF party will win from this constituency.
Responding on the SKM president PS Golay announcement to call the state-wide strike from 26 February if the government would not fulfil 30 demands of SKM by 25 February, Mr Chamling stated that everyone can place their issue in the democracy and even can call for the band. However, he added that the people would decide that whether the bandh was for good or not and the people will distinguish between truth and untruth and peace and unrest. “It is the responsibility of the State government to provide the security to the people and we would provide the full security to them and there was no point for people to fear as we would maintain the law and order,” he said.
On the ongoing issue of whether PS Golay can contest the election or not, the CM stated that I want that PS Golay should fight the election but question on whether he can contest or not was purely a legal matter and during it would be clear in the scrutiny.
