All Sikkim Adhoc & Temporary Employees Association [ASATEA] has stressed that if the State Human Resource Development Department would not address all issues discussed in the meeting of the committee constituted by the department itself then the adhoc teachers would launch a strong democratic movement of the decade. The association further asserted that the movement of adhoc teachers would be continued until the department would not take out the official notification by covering all issues of adhoc teachers discussed in the meeting.
Addressing a press conference here today, an ASATEA executive member, Yogesh Sharma informed that as per the information received by the association the file of adhoc teachers sent back to HRDD after the approval by the Chief Minister but the department has just included the issue of the regularisation of competent teachers having the service of five years and more and other demands were not in the file. On the same, he stressed that the department should not fool innocent teachers on their genuine demands otherwise the association would launch a strong democratic movement in the State. He added that the movement will be continued until all demands discussed and assured by the committee in the meeting would not include.
Mr Sharma stated that adhoc teachers have been supporting the department and teachers also expect the same response from the department. “We have never politicised our issue and never approached any political or non-political organisation. But, if the department would fool us then we will launch a strong movement by taking support from other teacher’s associations of the State,” he said. He added that it was purely a fight of teachers who have already suffered lots. ASATEA also hinted to go for the state-wide school strike if all demands would be fulfilled.
Mr Sharma alleged that district officials or HRDD have been threatening adhoc teachers to immediately join the school otherwise to terminate them. On the same, he mentioned that the association would take legal and other action if such threatening will be continued. He also mentioned that some elements have been trying to defame executive members of the association in social media with fake allegations to make the movement political and to instigate the people.
On the same, he asserted that the association that has the clear stand that no adhoc teacher should be left out and adhoc system should be abolish from the State.
