One Nagar Panchayat and Zilla panchayat Presidents will be from SC community: CM

Chief Minister Pawan Chamling urged people to show zero tolerance to any form of atrocities. Chamling was speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Jan Sampark Abhiyan of SDF Schedule Caste Welfare Front held in the SDF headquarter today.

Speaking further on the occasion, the CM said to tolerate unproven, inhuman and unscientific things was to encourage exploitation. He mentioned that members of SC community have still not been able to enjoy their rights in some States of the country till date.

He stressed upon the need to think seriously on why the people have not been able to protest unscientific things and stated that injustice will be prevailed until the people would tolerate injustice. On the same, he stressed on to have the habit to protest any injustice.

CM mentioned that the nature has given the equal rights to every human being so everyone needs to work hard to move ahead in the life. He mentioned that SDF government has been working to take all Sikkimese together on the path of progress and development and to ensure no one would face any problem due to birth, community and religion in the State. He added that the State government has given all rights to SC community and has always been working for their welfare and protection. He also encouraged for the unity among entire members of SC community.

CM mentioned that although SC members in Christians and Muslim do not get right enjoying by the SC but Sikkim government has given then 2% reservation to them by categorized them as the weaker section. He added that after the government has made all arrangements for them and now they need to come into the unity and walk together.

He informed that every 12 December will be observed as Janta Raj Isthapana Diwas at Gram Panchayat Unit level and stated that this day was for every community, religion and section of the State. He stated that the government has the thought to give more than the people have demanded in the upcoming Janta Mela.

CM announced that one Nagar Panchayat president in the upcoming Nagar Panchayat election and one zilla panchayat president will be from SC community. He encouraged not to take their work small but to establish their work as the home industry. He further encouraged to development Naumati Baja into a Nepali band and assured to provide support of uniform and instruments from the government side.

In his welcome address, SCWF president Aita Singh Baraily presented a list of demand to the CM. He mentioned that such programmes for SC community were not with earlier governments in the State. He mentioned that SDF government has been working for the welfare and protection of the community and urged the people to always keep their trust and believe on SDF party.

On the occasion, SCWF has also felicitated the CM for providing all rights and protection to SC community of the State.
