Minister for Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department Tshering Wangdi Lepcha inaugurated the newly built District Forest Complex at Namchi today. Built at an estimated cost of Rs one crore forty six lakh, the two storied infrastructure houses the offices for DFOs and ACFs of social forestry, land use, wildlife and territorial, staff including lounge and public utility.
The programme was attended by DC (South) Prabhakar Verma, S.P. (South) Manish Verma, Conservator of Forest (T) Nima Wangdi Tamang, CCF (FCA) Udai Gurung, DFO(T), Pegyla Tshering Venchungpa, Chairman, Councilors of Namchi Municipal Council along with Heads of Department, forest officials and staff.
After the inauguration programme, the Minister along with other dignitaries took a brief inspection of the complex.
Addressing, the gathering the Minister congratulated the forest officials and the staff for putting in their hardwork and dedication for the smooth functioning of the forest department which he said is highly commendable. He added that the newly established infrastructure will meet the requirements of a composite forest complex for south district. He also spoke in length about the several eco-friendly measures adopted and implemented by the State Government and called upon the departmental officials and staff to discharge their duties diligently.
At the onset, DFO (T) gave the technical report wherein she elaborated on the project which she informed commenced from the year 2015 she also brought to light that the plan was approved and sanctioned under Environment Cess.
She updated that the building has a total of 8 officers rooms for both DFOs and ACFs of the respective four divisions. The rooms for the office staff has been designed as per corporate staffing keeping in mind the ease with which functioning can be discharged.
