Pakyong Airport Committee starts survey of damaged land

The survey of damaged land at the hill side of the Pakyong Airport has started today, for demarcation of Airport and public’s land. The survey was conducted by the committee which was constituted last Thursday 7th of February 2019 headed by SDM Pakyong TD Denzongpa, Airport Land victims, AAI officials, official of state tourism department, Sub-divisional officers.
After the survey, the committees is expected to submit their reports to the Tourism Department, the tourism department along with AAI officials will approach to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India at New Delhi by the end of this month and submit the reports and also seek compensation of the damaged land of the AAI victims.
The land victims have been demanding of their damaged land to be acquired by the government according to Land Acquisition act 2013.
The Airport land victims had called strike at the gate of the Pakyong Airport last year November and this February, as their demands were not fulfilled by the State government and the AAI. Also they demanded to stopped the cutting of the hillside for making protection wall by the Airport, the cutting of hill side has damaged their agricultural land above Pakyong Airport. At present the Construction of protection wall at the hill side have been stopped.
