Namchi Public School’s boys’ team win the ARCEIS (Association of Roman Catholic Educational Institutions in Sikkim) Inter-School ‘AB’ Division Football Tournament. This year’s tournament was organized by NPS, at their iconic football ground. They remained unbeaten throughout the tournament.
The independent panel of referees chose NPS team’s Thupden W. Sherpa the Player of the tournament for his scintillating performance throughout the tournament.Don Bosco School, Malbasey, was the First Runner-up and St. Joseph’s School, Rhenock, was the Second Runner-up. The other team in the tournament was St. Xavier’s School, Pakyong. In the first semifinal, NPS team defeated SJS, Rhenock, by five goals to nil and in the other semifinal,DBS defeated SXS through penalty shoot-outs which went into sudden death system, by five goals to four.
In the finals, NPS beat DBS by two goals to one. The tournament witnessed some budding talents of Sikkim, showcasing dazzling skills and reflexes, and entertaining the spectators with their stylish play. NPS Principal, Rev. Fr. Stany Sequeira, welcomed and thanked the players, coaches, managers and the School Principals, for making this tournament a great success. The Director of NPS, Rev. Fr. George A. D’Souza, gave away the Trophies to the winners. He also inaugurated the Tournament in a ceremonial opening ceremony. With this victory, NPS is marching on with multiple victories in various sports and making it a sporting powerhouse in the state of Sikkim.
