Geyzing, Feb 14
With only a month left for a general election, the SDF party has intensified its campaign in West Sikkim. As the date of the election in the state is expected to be declared very soon, the ruling front of the state as part of pre poll exercise has been holding political programme across West Sikkim continuously.
The ruling front today organized a public meeting at Taarbaari under Timburbung block of Soreng Chyakhung constituency. Minister and area MLA R.B Subba who is also the chairman of Chakung-Soreng constituency-level monitoring and campaign committee of the SDF party was present as the chief guest in the meeting. Advisor (Health) Dr. A.D Subba, Chairman of sports and Youth affairs Khem Prasad Dahal, the party functionaries and the local people were also present in the meeting today.
In his address R.B Subba claimed that the opposition parties of the state are fearful of SDF’s strong political base and that is the reason why the opposition parties are keen on forging political alliance to take on the SDF in the upcoming election. Maintaining that the political alliance of the opposition parties will not make any difference to the SDF party, Subba said that the SDF still strong and confident about forming government in the state for the record six times. “We (SDF party) are strong and have the support of the mass. We will form the government this time again”, he said.
He informed that the SDF party will fight the election with the agendas of peace, security and development of Sikkim. He directed the party functionaries to work collectively and stand united for the party for ensuring victories of the party. He added that role and responsibilities of the party workers have increased and they have greater roles to play in the upcoming election.
Speaking about various public welfare works initiated in the state by present SDF government, R.B Subba maintained that development of all the sectors has happened under the SDF government and the state has flourished in terms of development and progress.
Khem Prasad Dahal in his brief speech alleged that the SKM party showing the height of desperation is trying to enforce the culture of bandh (strike) in the state in the name of politics. He maintained that the strike will not get support of the peace loving people of Sikkim. “The educated society of the state will not support the bandh as it (bandh) is not a practice associated with a peaceful state like Sikkim”, he said.
He stated that the SDF party is not opposed to any opposition parties’ political leaders but the party is opposed to their agendas and political ideals. Dr. A.D Subba claimed that the SDF party is not a merely a political party but an organization of Sikkimese people and the opposition parties do not have that capacity to sway the organizational strength of the SDF party. Calling for unity, togetherness, better coordination amongst the party workers, Subba said that taking the party’s policies and agendas to the people in a better way remain in the hands of the party workers
