Sabnam Rasaily of Chisopani, Jorethang in South Sikkim has expressed her total dissatisfaction on the process of the replacement of her name with another candidate after two days of the announcements of the result of Assistant Engineer [Civil]. She has now appealed the Chief Minister of the State to give justice in her case.

It is informed that Sikkim Public Service Commission [SPSC] had announced the list of 36 qualified candidates in merit of Assistant Engineer [Civil] on 19 November 2018 but after two days SPSC published a corrigendum mentioning that Sabnam Rasaily who professes Christian religion has inadvertently been selected for the post of AE against the roster point reserved for Scheduled Caste category and another candidate Khusboo Lamichaney declared as qualified for appointment to the post of AE [Civil] in place of Sabnam Rasaily as the roster point reserved for SC category on the basis of the merit.

Addressing a press conference here today, Ms Rasaily said, “SPSC did not send me any notice or even inform me before replacing my name with another candidate. It was really very humiliating and disheartening for me to know I had been replaced by another candidate through social and other media when was getting best wishes and congratulations from the people.” She further stated that SPSC should send her the notice or atleast inform her before publishing the corrigendum in the public. She expressed that it was injustice to her and to all her hard work for the preparation for the interview.

She stated that while enquiring about the same, SPSC Secretary informed that it had happened due to mistake in the scrutiny process and no person who professes religion different from Hindu or the Sikh religion shall be deemed to be a member of a SC. “I had clearly mentioned Christianity in the religion column and also submitted my SC certificate while filing up the form for the interview but to replace my name after the announcement of the result is very injustice and humiliated for me,” she said. She expressed her desire to meet the CM to personally place her issue. “CM is the guardian of the people of Sikkim and I am very hopeful that now he can give me the justice,” she expressed.
