ICAR-National Organic Farming Institute (NOFRI) organized a day long Hindi Workshop under the Chairmanship of Joint Director, Dr. R.K. Avasthe on 16th December 2019 for the staff members of the Institute and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, East Sikkim. Initiating the deliberation, Surendra Mohan Kandwal, Sr. Technical Officer highlighted the objectives for organizing such Hindi workshop at this Institute. Further, he stated that every year we organize 4-5 Hindi Workshops on different topics related to implementation of Rajbhasha Hindi. During September to November 2019, number of programmes/events organized like Hindi Chetana Mas (whole month of September 2019), Celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary Week of Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi from 28th September to 2nd October 2019, Vigilance Awareness Week from 28th October to 2nd November 2019, wherein the medium adopted was Hindi. Additionally Scientists of this Institute are writing Popular Articles in Hindi and those have been published in the Journals published by the ICAR. Some of Extension materials have also been published in Nepali for the benefit of the farming community of Sikkim. Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Principal Scientist delivered of a talk on “How to overcome from the Podium phobia”. During the talk he cited many examples to overcoming from the phobia in public speaking, as it is very essential to have good oration quality for making any presentation. The interaction session was organized for the participating staff members. He requested all the participants to make regular practice for delivery of a lecture before the audience of different size for perfection. The Vice Chairman of the Official Language Implementation Committee, Dr. Raghavendra Singh emphasized on the keen interest of the staffs in adopting Hindi in their routine work and every efforts are being made by the Hindi Section for promotion of the Hindi at this Institute. He appealed to staff to get benefit by this Workshop. Dr. Ashish Yadav, Sr. Scientist revealed some of historical aspects of Rajbhasha Hindi and its gradual progress in the Society. Dr. P.K. Pathak, Head (I/C) of Krishi Vigyan Kendra highlighted the constitutional status of Rajbhasha Hindi and its role for National Integratioin. Shri S.Verma, CTO has also offered his views. The workshop was coordinated by Shri S.M. Kandwal, Sr. Technical Officer, Member Secretary, Official Language Implementation Committee. At the end the programme the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Chandan Kapoor, Scientist of the Institute.
