Incessant rain has triggered massive landslides in Tsong village of Yuksam, West Sikkim on Sept 16 leading to widespread devastation.
Normal life has been thrown out of gear with one whole village comes under the grip of landslides. There are total 75 household in Tsong Village.
As per the report from IPR total 20% of houses have been damaged, 40% houses were partially damaged and 3 houses were totally washed out/collapsed.
MP along with District Collector and other officials met with landslide victims at relief camps at Yuksam and assured of Government assistance and supports. MP appealed people not to panic as state Government are with them.
ADC informed about various reliefs Major taken up by west district Administration. Various teams comprising of Governments officials and local volunteers have been formed to oversee the reliefs’ camps and taking care of evacuees. The meeting also delivered on safety and precautions for the evacuees.
The Power department has requested not to use Geysers and Hitters at the hotels to smooth flow of Power supply. Power DE have assured to supply uninterrupted power to the Yuksam relief camps.
Additional Medical doctors and health professionals will be deployed at relief camps. Doctor and staffs from Yuksam PHC already setup a medical camp at Relief camps site.
DC said, we will make an assessment of the landslide hit village soon with the departmental heads. District Administration will provide immediate assistance to the victims who have lost houses and livestock and assistance tomorrow from the hands of Chief Minister. Assistance for Land and crops loss will be given after the through assessment later.
