Chamling calls for a commitment to preserve Nepali Language, says only constitutional recognition is not enough,people should include and recognize the Nepali language from heart and spirit.

Sikkim Democratic Front President and former Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling has expressed his hearty congratulations and best wishes to entire people of Sikkim and Nepali speaking people across the world on the occasion of the 28th Nepali BhasaManyata Diwas. On the occasion, he stressed that the only constitutional recognition of the language was not enough and further appealed everyone to take commitment to include and recognize the language from the spirit and heart.
SDF president stated that the history of Nepali BhasaManyata Diwas was started by Anand Singh Thapa in 1956 and has big struggle, sacrifice and hard work of language and literature loving people to include Nepali language in the eighth scheduled of the constitution in 1992. “We remember all of them on this day as our mother language got the constitutional recognition and respect due to their sacrifice and struggle,” the release said.
It has been mentioned that the history of the genesis of Nepali language was very long and our ancestors played an important role for the development, conservation and preservation of the language since inception. The release added that this day was very memorable as our unknown ancestors preserve this language for ages by using it for dialogue and we got it as the mother language. On the same, it is added that if our ancestors had stop using this language at any era then it would had been lost and we were presently speaking any other language and had lost our existence.
Mr Chamling expressed his hearty congratulations and gratitude to ancestors for preserving and using this language for dialogue for ages and bringing it to this age. It is mentioned that without the contributions of intellectuals, language experts and others for creating alphabets, grammar and dictionary for the preservation, conservation and development of Nepali language the scientific and standardization of the language.
Our language received the recognition and acceptance in the national and international level due to due to their allegiance, dutiful and commitment. So, I would like to give sincere credit and gratitude to them for the development of our language Chamling added.
He also expressed his hearty congratulations and best wishes to entire litterateurs, poets, writers, artists, editors, language lovers, language strugglers, intellectuals and leaders, workers and supporters of different social, cultural and political organizations.
The release asserted BhasaManyata Diwas was the day to think seriously to develop our mother language in the international level. He further asserted that everyone needs to take commitment to support and contribute from their side in this line. It is added that there was need to evaluate advantages the people have been able to taken so far of opportunities created after the recognition of Nepali language. The release stated that we should work for the further development of the language in coming days and should able to make better use of it.
Nepali people must not live by resting on our laurels and past achievements. We must learn from our past and by no means must we take Nepali language and literature for granted he added.
Chamling said “If we would not use our language and not recognize, love and respect our language then other would not do “.
He urged all the Nepali speaking people to be proud of the language and show their love and interest for it. We must never ignore our own language by giving preference to other languages he added.
