Daylong Sub Division level awareness programme for co-operators of west district was held today at Hotel Organge Tree, Dentam West Sikkim.
The programme was organised by Sikkim State Cooperative Union in collaboration with West District Zilla Panchayat.
The programme was graced by the Vice Chairman of SISCO Bank P.P. Sharma. The programme also had in attendance L.P. Kafley, Chairman, SICUN, Bishnu Rai, Director, SICUN, Bimal Rai, Spokesperon, Ajit Gurung, Auditor, Cooperation Department, Phadung Bhutia and Zilla Panchayats.
Delivering his keynote address, SICUN Chairman L.P. Kafley spoke about the importance of cooperative and the need for cooperative movement in the state and about the vision of SICUN towards it. Technical session was addressed by Auditor from Cooperation Department who stressed on importance of maintenance of proper accounts. He maintained that the progress of any cooperative society can only be assessed from its accounts.
The resource person Jitman Rai spoke about history of cooperative movement, its principles and briefly informed the gathering about SICUN. Bimal Rai, addressing as a resource person, gave a PowerPoint presentation about the importance of leadership development which he said is needed in taking cooperative movement forward in the state. During interaction session, the participants interacted with the resource persons and the SICUN representatives.
The Chief Guest P.P. Sharma appreciated SICUN and West District Zilla Panchayat for organisation the awareness programme which he said he found very useful. He informed the gathering about SISCO bank and underlined that the bank belongs to the Sikkimese people and cooperatives must make maximum use of the bank. The programme felicitated five Panchayats under Dentam Sub Division for their special contribution in the awareness programme. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by SICUN’s faculty Jitman Rai.
