SAATHI peer educators of Government Girls Senior Secondary School Geyzing, observed International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking on the theme “Health for justice and justice for health” on June 26. It was held in the heart of the town, where young, energetic peer educators spread a strong message stating ” Abusing of drugs is harmful ” and “Addiction is a diseases, that is curable with love and support”.
They enacted a short play and songs projecting the current scenario seen and highlighted how an individual can fall prey to “Drugs” and society penalizes them. Being compassionate is the only solution to the problem.
The program ended with a slogan, stating to stop abusing drugs, and the people being affected by addiction need love suppose and care.
Similarly, International drug day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was organised under a joint initiative of SAATHI Sikkim and Freedom Rehabilitation Centre today at mg marg. The programme was graced by the grandeur presence of the forest, environment and wildlife minister as a chief guest. The guest of honour was our own local talent who is now a national football star Mr. Nirmal Chettri. In the programme we could also witness the participation of the principals of Bojoghari SSS and Modern SSS along with the active participation of the students exhibiting their talents.
The programme started at around 8:30 with a rally flagged off by the chief guest and the guest of honour. In the rally almost 300 students along with the freedom rehab family marched towards MG Marg chanting slogans. After reaching MG Marg various programmes that were performed were Band display by West Point SSS, Song by Bojoghari SSS, Dance by Modern SSS, Skit by Tadong SSS, Song by Deorali SSS ,Dance and song by Freedom Rehabilitation Center , Welcome speech by Bishal Darnal , Speech by guest of Honor , Speech by Chung Chung ma’am, Speech by Chief Guest and Sharing by Freedom Rehabilitation Center.
Likewise, the International Day against abuse and illicit trafficking is celebrated on 26th June Worldwide. Namchi Senior Secondary School (boys), organised a program under SAATHI Sikkim at Central Park Namchi. SDM Namchi was the Chief Guest and NMC Chair person Mr. Uday Rai was the guest of honour for the event. Mr. Lobsang Lama, principal new light Academy were also the guest invited and many other faculties also attended the programme. Even the students from different schools participated in the event.
A rally was organised by the students of Namchi Senior Secondary School in the morning at Namchi bazaar. Around 11:30 am the program started with a speech on the topic “Harmful effects of drug abuse“ by a peer educator of SAATHI, after which a skit was performed by students of Namchi Senior Secondary School, followed by a speech by SDM Namchi and a teacher coordinator of SAATHI Mrs. Gauri Singh. Dance and songs were performed by peer educators of SAATHI and NSS students
Price distribution was done for painting competition which was held a day by the Chief Guest. At the end programme ended with the school anthem of Namchi Senior Secondary School.
