A high-level meeting of Sikkim Democratic Front party was held here at the party headquarter on Bypass Road on Thursday. The meeting, which was chaired by former senior Minister, DD Bhutia, was attended by former Ministers and MLAs, Advisors and Chairpersons of SDF party.
A SDF press release issued by its general secretary [press & publicity], Chudamani Mishra informed that the meeting thoroughly discussed and deliberated on the present political situation of the State and various weakness and future programmes of the party. It is informed that after a thorough discussion and deliberation, three resolutions were passed unanimously by the meeting.
The release expressed that meeting discussed that SDF was a strong party which has been consistently and dedicatedly working for the people under the still, firm and visionary leadership of Pawan Chamling since 26 years. It is added that many got opportunities to serve the people of Sikkim as Minster, MLAs, MP and Advisor and Chairman in 25 years of SDF government. On the same, former Minster, MLAs, MP and Advisor and Chairman expressed their gratitude to the SDF party and its President, Pawan Chamling and passed the thanks giving resolution, it is informed.
The meeting has also passed the resolution that although SDF MLAs have joined other parties after the 10th Assembly and 17th Lok Sabha elections but SDF party would continuously work in the interest of the people of Sikkim under the strong leadership of Pawan Chamling.
The meeting has also passed the resolution that SDF party would work more strongly and actively to implement the pro-people policies and principles of SDF party through the vision of Pawan Chamling in the service of Sikkim and its people.
The release informed that in his address, DD Bhutia mentioned that SDF under the still leadership of Pawan Chamling was the largest regional party of the country and has contributed historic contributions to Sikkim in its 25 years long government in the State. He said that SDF party should not get panic with the present political activities in the State. He expressed that Pawan Chamling was successful in restoring the true democracy in the State when the opposition supporters were not allowed to read newspapers and make photocopy during 1992-93. He stated that SDF party and its leader was in the great form and appealed all party workers to work more responsibly to make the party more active.
Earlier, former MLA, Am Prasad Sharma, former Minister, DB Thapa, former Speaker, KN Rai, former Minister, Somnath Poudyal, former Chairman, Nima Theeng, former Minister Rinzing Ongmu Bhutia, former MLA, Dorjee Namgyal Bhutia, former Minister, AS Baraily, former Chairman, PK Gurung, former Speaker, Kalawati Subba, former MLA, Ugen Nedup Bhutia, former Deputy Speaker, Sonam Gyatso Lepcha, former Minister, GM Gurung and others placed their thoughts and suggestions, the release informed.
