The two day eco-tourism festival organized by Wild Division and Directorate of Ecotourism and funded by JICA concluded today here at Water Garden of HeeGaon under Maneybung Dentam constituency. The valedictory day of the festival was attended by minister for Rural Management and Development, S.B Subedi as the chief guest. DFO (wildlife) Nisha Sharma, officials from forest department and others were also present in the festival.
An organizing committee member informed that the festival was organized to give a needed boost to tourism sector of west Sikkim through tourism based activities. He added that development of tourism and assimilation of ethnic cultural heritage of different communities of Sikkim for promotion of tourism in west Sikkim is an effort of the organizing committee.
Minister S.B Subedi in his brief address appreciated the initiative taken up for promotion of tourism by the forest department. He stressed the need for development and promotion of tourism sector in the state claiming that the sector could provide opportunities for employments for people. He expressed that need for proper management of Hee Water Garden in a better way is felt so that objectives of catering tourism based activities are fulfilled. He mentioned that management of tourism based infrastructures in proper way would help the tourism sector to flourish in west Sikkim. Subedi maintained that the state government has worked committedly for the development of tourism sector and claimed that the sector is flourishing rapidly.
The photography competition, traditional houses competition and other ethnic cultural competition were also included in the event. Cultural presentations from RemantiSangit Academy were other extravagant in the event.
The organizing committee felicitated minister N.K Subba for his contributions towards making the festival successful.
