Sikkim Unit of National Confederation of Bank Employees [NCBE] is organizing the State Conference for the first time in Sikkim on 16 December here in the capital. The conference is also to mark the occasion of the formation of the Sikkim State Federation of NCBE.
Addressing a press conference here today, SBI Staff Association [Bengal Circle] vice-president, Rajesh Chandra Pradhan, who is also the designated general secretary of NCBE Sikkim State Federation, informed that is a non-political organisation having over three lakhs members and around 60 unions have been affiliated with it. He added that the organisation has been working for the welfare and in the interest of banking staffs and has been raising different issues related to them.
Mr Pradhan stated that this historical event for the first time in Sikkim will also have leaders of different bank unions and associations from different parts of the State. The conference will have United Forum of Bank Unions convener, Sanjeev K Bandalish, SBI Staff Association [8 circle] president, SP Behera and SBI Staff Association [8 circle] chief secretary, Rajesh Tripathi along with leaders from NCBE and State Bank of India Staff Association. The event is scheduled to have Gangtok MLA Pintso Chopel Lepcha as the chief guest.
Mr Pradhan mentioned that the conference will also discuss on various issues related to banking sector like ongoing wage negotiation, changing policies of the government, privatization and mergers of banks and others.
The press conference was also attended by SBI Staff Association Sikkim regional secretary, Passang Tamang and SBI Staff Association, Gangtok branch assistant secretary, Pravin Rai.
