Gangtok, Times Report
Gangtok, Feb 3
The ruling SDF party seems to have emerged a favorite among politicians shifting their party affiliations.
In the continuation of mass joining, around 1300 workers and supporters of opposition parties have joined the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front party here at Samman Bhawan on Sunday. SDF President, the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling welcomed them in the party by presented the flag and literature of SDF party.
On the third day of the ongoing mass joining in the ruling party, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party advisor, Sonam Gyamtso and a national footballer and former captain of United Sikkim FC Nim Tshering Lepcha and workers and supporters of SKM party, Hamro Sikkim Party and Sikkim Rajya Manch have joined SDF today.
Hundreds of supporters of MLA RN Chamling from Rangrang-Yangang and supporters of the opposition parties from Dzongu, Rhenock, Martam-Rumtek, West Pendam, Gyalshing-Bermiok, Maneybong-Dentam, Soreng-Chakung, Yuksom-Tashiding and Rinchenpong constituencies have joined the ruling SDF party.
CM also met former panchayat members of Rangang-Yangang constituency, who have also officially joined SDF party. Former panchayats, who have supported Independent candidate RN Chamling in 2014, have assured to support SDF party now onwards.
Addressing the huge gathering, the CM reminded his principle to keep away the party from the families announced during the formation of SDF party on 04 March 1993. “I have been standing still on this principle and would not make even a panchayat from my family,” he said. On the same, he stated that by not understanding my principle the people of Rangang-Yangang have made his brother MLA in 2014 by polls. “I am standing still on my principles and I have not even taken my brother in my party and I will never. I would never compromise with my principle and the people of my village need to understand this,” he said. He stated that the people of the constituency should now support SDF party.
Mr Chamling mentioned that opposition parties have been running around with communal and religious issues to mislead the people. Mr. Chamling has said that the opposition parties who are misleading and making public their kingsbefore election just to fulfill their personal agendas, will vanish after election just like bears goes for hibernation in winters.
He stated that the ruling party has been working continuously for the people of Sikkim since inception and has never run away from its responsibility towards the people and would never betray the people of Sikkim.
In these three days of mass joining, around 3500 workers and supporters of opposition parties have joined SDF party. SDF party has informed that the series of mass joining will be continued from 06 February at Samman Bhawan.
