District collector (South) Prabhakar Verma inaugurated a
hands on training on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter-Verifiable
Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs) for Electoral Registration Officer (EROs), Assistant
Electoral Registration Officer (AEROs) alongwith the Supervisors of South
District at the Conference Hall of the District Administrative Center, Namchi
today.
The training was conducted by National Level
Trainer cum SDM (Kabi) Mr Mahesh Sharma. The programme included a hands on
training for the district officials on EVM and VVPAT they were also informed
about the nuances and workings of the EVM / VVPATs machines.
Speaking, during the training DC Mr. Verma urged
all the officials to take full advantage of the training session, to clear any
doubts and practise on the demonstration EVM machines so that the officials are
well prepared for conducting the ensuing general elections to be held this
year. During the course of the training, all the officials were also given a
set of Demo machines to practise with and familiarise themselves.
It maybe mentioned here that similar training
shall be imparted to the Booth Level Officers (BLO) of all Assembly
constituencies by the ERO/AEROs during this month in order for the BLOs to be
equipped and can in detail transmit similar kinds of hands on training at the
BAC level/ PS in their jurisdiction as part of Systematic Voter’s Education and
Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities of South District.
