ASDTF held Coordination cum interaction meeting with the drivers, transporters and the associations heads of the 17 Khamdong-Singtam Constituency of East Sikkim at Community Hall, Singtam Bazar, East Sikkim.
State Incharge of the ASDTF G.M. Gurung of Rangpo was present as a Chief Guest. He was accompanied by General Secretary ASDTF Karma Tashi Bhutia of Bhusuk, General Secretary SDF Tenzing Sherpa of Sikkim, Vice President CLC Krishna Chettri, President of Singtam Motor Transport Service Cooperative Society Tinku Adhikari, President of Singtam New Generation Cooperative Society Tatshering Lepcha among others.
At the onset, senior drivers from Singtam Bazzar Bindeswari Prasad and Laxuman Darji were honored by the Chief Guest.
Drivers from different stands of the Constituency and parking contractors had placed the grievances to the Executive Committee Members of the All Sikkim Democratic Transport/Driver Front.
President of Drivers Cooperative Society of Singtam extended the heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister and ASDTF for opening RTO office at Singtam and Chief Minister Startup Scheme, which has benefitted the drivers of many constituencies.
Prssident G.M. Gurung reviewed the grievances made by drivers present at the meeting. He had mainly focused on solution of the problems faced by the drivers of different constituencies. Besides he had informed about the sanctions and implementations of many demands till date by the government during the meeting. Day long coordination meeting was attended by around 200 drivers of the region which was positively participated with valuable interaction session.
Further, Gurung informed the participants that before SDF government there was only 9000 vehicles, Sikkim state have more than 90000 vehicles and 1 lakh drivers. 1800 Km state roads, now state have 6200 Km long roads in every nook and corners of the state , new tourist destinations are introduced, permits were extended, and government is continuously working towards a better facilities for the general public and drivers of state as a whole.
