A four day long State Level Tribal Festival, 2018 will be commence from 13th to 16th December, 2018 at Namprikdang, Upper Dzongu, North Sikkim. The festival will be organised by Tribal Research Institute,Social Justice, Empowerment & Welfare Department Government of Sikkim in collaboration with District Administration North & Namprikdang, Namsoong Festival Celebration Committee, funded by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
The primary objective of organising State Level Tribal Festival is to provide platform and to showcase the talent amongst the Bhutia, Lepcha, Limboo, Tamang & Sherpa Tribal Community in the State. The outstanding achievers belonging to Schedule Tribe Category will be given recognition and felicitation for their outstanding contribution in the field of Sports, Science & Technology, Language/literature, culture, Bio diversity conservation for the welfare of tribal
community in the State of Sikkim.
The major attraction of the festival will be display of local tribal food, arts & artefacts, presentation of cultural dance, presentation of traditional activities of Maharashtra by the artist representing Hind Prashisthan Mardani Akhada, Kolapur.
The following personalities will be awarded with prestigious tribal achievers award, 2018.
1. Shri Jas Raj Subba.
2. Shri Norzong Lepcha.
3. Shri Norbu Tamang.
4. Shri Dorjee Sherpa.
5. Mrs. Kiden Bhutia.
6. Mr. Namgyal Lepcha.
Professor Praksh Pattanaik, Head Department of Modern Indian Languages, Delhi University will be attending the festival as Special Guest. The organizer appeals all the esteemed well wishes to witness the event.
