The first State Conference of the National Confederation of Bank Employees [NCBE] was held in the capital on Sunday. The day-long conference, which was organised by Sikkim State Federation of NCBE, has Gangtok MLA Pintso Chopel Lepcha as the chief guest and was attended by leaders of different bank unions and associations from different parts of the country.
In his address, NCBE general secretary Sanjeev Kumar Bandalish informed to observe the nation-wide bandh of banks on 26 December to protest the merger of banks. He expressed that the decision to merge public sector banks was not right. He added that merger of banks will end the history and culture of the bank. He also stressed upon the need to establish banks in the rural parts for the development of the country.
Addressing the function, the chief guest thanked the bank employees for their consistent service to Sikkim and its people. He also placed his various suggestions during the meeting. He urged banks to help youths of Sikkim in doing business and to increase the standard of the people.
Names of the office bearers of the NCBE Sikkim unit have been announced on the occasion. The state-unit has been led by CN Lepcha as the president, Sonam Dorjee as vice-president, Rajesh Chandra Pradhan as general secretary, Pujan Thapa Sharma as deputy general secretary [headquarter] and Rupendra Mukhia as deputy general secretary, Nityam Rai, Deepak Sharma and PaldenPintso Sherpa as assistant general secretary and Anamika Rai as treasurer. Likewise, the committee also having Arjun Niroula as west district regional secretary, Azad Alam as north district regional secretary and Nima Doma Tamang as east district regional secretary.
The programme was also addressed by regional manager, Aftab Ahmed Mallikc, NCBE West Bengal general secretary, Siddharth Khan, SBI Staff Association Bengal Circle president, Animesh Chatterjee among others
